I hope you enjoy these few photos from a recent newborn photo shoot with the Huxford family. Baby Noah was born in July via a planned Caesarean section due to baby being breech for most of the pregnancy. Mum & Dad prepared for their baby photo session by giving Noah a bath in the morning and a big feed before the car ride over, to help baby sleep during the photo shoot. However, Noah had other ideas and wanted to be awake for most of the session! This was lovely as I captured some beautiful photos of his big blue eyes. Mum, Maryann, said,

"We really liked how patient Helen was with our baby, he was unsettled and wouldn’t go back to sleep however Helen helped to keep our baby calm and give us time to feed and cuddle him when needed. The photo shoot was very professional and Helen very welcoming too! She was amazing with our baby and gave him lots of attention in between photos. We really enjoyed it all."

I really enjoyed it too Maryann!

I recently did a newborn photo shoot for a teacher at a local primary school. Mum Sarah had been given a photo session voucher as a very kind and thoughtful gift from the parents and children that she has taught as an end of year gift as she left school to start maternity leave.

Baby Isaac was born on 29th July 2018, 5 weeks early, a little surprise as he wasn't due until September!

Sarah says,

"Helen is very friendly and flexible, with a very professional manner. Her baby photos are classic, cute, and include extra details that were no problem for her. Communication to organise the shoot was easy and friendly, and put us at ease before we had even arrived. The session was very relaxed and led by Isaac's needs. Helen was lovely, very friendly and welcoming, caring and aware of how to work with newborn babies.

This was one of my favourite maternity photo shoots so far. A beautiful young couple with a little boy due in November came to have some bump photos taken and they were just awesome in front of the camera. Mum-to-be Bryony brought along some tiny shoes and we had fun getting creative and involving them in the photo session. I'm so pleased with the results and can't wait to take some baby pictures of the little guy when he comes for his newborn photo shoot!

I recently did a family photo shoot for a mum who couldn't get her three children to smile at the same time. Mum, Rachel, said very little preparation was necessary for the photo session, just making sure the children were clean! She opted for an outdoor family photo shoot as they all love being out in the countryside. Here are a couple of photos from the session and some very kind words from Rachel (thank you Rachel x).

"Helen was very friendly which made the atmosphere relaxed and fun. The children loved the whole experience and the photographs that were taken were amazing. Helen is very talented and professional photographer!"

Welcome back,

I recently had a fantastic newborn and family photo session with the Adegbite family. Wale, Dad, enjoys travelling; Yerome, Mum, is an aspiring writer; Daniel, big brother, he loves cars and street vehicles; and last but not least, David, little brother, loves being cute, as he is still a little baby!

We met at my relaxed home studio. I love shooting at home because it instantly makes people feel relaxed and I feel I offer a more personal service by inviting clients into my home.

For our shoot, the family all wore white simply because they wanted to co-ordinate outfits. The outfits they chose really made for some amazing photos.

It really was a fab photo shoot. If any of you are considering a family session or are prepping for an upcoming session, heed the words of Yerome:

“Make sure the kids are not tired and are well fed before the shoot, might get the smiles out quicker”, she says. Solid advice!

"Helen is a friendly and very talented photographer, I was so impressed with the results. The pictures were great, thank you so much. Yerome"

Hi blog readers

I wanted to tell you about my recent session with the Johnson-Ferguson family.

I met up with them in July at my home studio near Andover as they wanted an extended family portrait to be photographed, printed and framed the same day, to give as a gift to granny. Three brothers and their families came from across Europe to meet for the big birthday celebration. The weather was perfect for taking photos and we did some indoors and some in our beautiful garden.

We even recreated a photo of 8 cousins from when they were small children. Now young adults, the pose wasn’t quite so comfortable for those sitting on top of the others (4 laying on the grand on their fronts and 4 sitting on their backs!).

The large family portrait chosen to give to granny is shown here.

Guess what I have for you today? It starts with T and ends with WINS. That’s right, I’m bringing double trouble to the blog today via these two, who were really no trouble at all during our newborn photo session we did at their home earlier this year. The photo session was great fun and I used all natural light for this one.  Mum said that they were surprised when they heard that they were getting a two-for-one deal, especially as they already had three children!

I have a busy weekend ahead and am looking forward to 4 photo shoots, all of which will be very different! On Saturday morning I am going to be taking a family portrait with a lovely family who had a newborn photo shoot recently. Saturday evening I am doing an outdoor engagement photo shoot with a couple soon to be married. Sunday morning I will be at the Trout n' About festival in Stockbridge, taking some event photos for the organisers. That really is a great day out, so do pop along if you are free. Finally, on Sunday afternoon I will be doing a large family portrait at an extended family BBQ. After all of that I will sit down to enjoy a well deserved glass of Test Valley Gin and tonic!

I really enjoyed this recent photo shoot. Mum, Colleen, tells us about her experience...

Tell us about your birth story

We were already parents to our beautiful 15-month-old twin boys when our beautiful little girl, Hattie, arrived on the 2nd May. When the boys were born life is too hectic to get round to having a photo shoot and I was determined to get a photo shoot of Hattie done while she was still little. What I really wanted was a beautiful photo of the three of them all together and I thought that would be pretty hard to achieve. However Helen worked her magic and produced wonderful family photos for us.

Why did you choose H Jones Photography for your shoot?

Helen's work looked stunning

What did you like best about the session?

The session was a really lovely morning out. Our toddler twin boys had an absolutely wonderful time playing in Helen's kitchen with big boxes of toys and then exploring the beautiful garden. The session was incredibly relaxed, we got great photos of the boys with their baby sister first, and then they had a really good play and ate their lunch while Helen worked with Hattie to get the beautiful newborn photos of her. The session was incredibly laid-back so I could feed Hattie whenever and she napped on and off. Helen gave us the entire morning and was incredibly patient which produced fantastic photos.

How did you prepare for the photo shoot?

We made sure we brought plenty to keep the boys entertained, snacks, lunch and some favourite toys.

Would you recommend H Jones Photography to others and what are your reasons?

I would highly recommend Helen to others, she worked brilliantly with all our children and put us at ease and made the whole experience great fun!

Thanks Colleen! I hope to be able to photograph your lovely family again sometime x

I had a really lovely newborn photo shoot recently with the Young family and their new arrival, Henry. I asked Mum, Petra, about her experience of her baby photo session ...

Why did you choose H Jones Photography for your newborn photo session?

"Recommended via Winchester babies group."

What did you like best about the session?

"How chilled you managed to get Henry and how relaxed the environment was. It didn't matter that he pooped and peed and ok to feed."

What could have been done differently?

"Nothing!"

How did you prepare for the newborn baby photo shoot?

"Looked at Pinterest for military based stuff but relied on Helen to come up with the creative stuff."

Would you recommend H Jones Photography to others and what are your reasons?

"100% for all the above reasons and Helen is a really nice person too."

Thank you Petra! I really enjoyed taking your baby pictures! Helen x
