I’m Helen, a dedicated photographer and mother of two, with a passion for capturing your family’s journey—whether through newborn photography in Hampshire, maternity shoots, or beautiful first-year milestones.

Capture the Precious Early Days with a Newborn Photography Session in Hampshire

The best time to book a newborn photography session is when your baby is between 7 and 10 days old. During this brief window, your little one is still very sleepy and displays those adorable newborn traits—tiny toes, delicate fingers, and that heart-melting, scrunched-up pose.

My sessions last around 3 hours and are completely baby-led, ensuring a relaxed and stress-free experience. As a mother of two, I understand the challenges of stepping out just days after giving birth. That’s why I provide everything you need and guide you through the process. Before the session, I’ll offer a detailed overview on what to expect and how to prepare, so you can feel at ease and fully enjoy this unforgettable moment.

PRICING summary

All sessions are booked with a £95 session fee, which secures your shoot and includes:

- Your photoshoot at my studio or chosen outdoor location
- Use of carefully selected props, outfits and styling
- A relaxed, unhurried experience guided at your pace
- Professional hand-editing of your images
- A private in-person viewing appointment to choose your favourites

Digital image collections and printed products are purchased separately.

Digital collections begin at £295, with a range of options available depending on how many images you’d love to keep.

Many families choose to invest in one or two beautiful pieces of wall art, such as framed prints or albums, to enjoy their images every day.

Wall art and printed products are completely optional and are chosen during your viewing appointment.

Prices for wall art start from £275, with larger statement pieces and collections available.

There is no obligation to purchase beyond your chosen digital collection, and I’m always happy to guide you through the options so you can choose what feels right for your family and your home.

Mini session pricing

Mini sessions are priced a little differently to my full photography sessions. 

They are short, carefully timed sessions held on set dates and locations, with limited availability and a consistent setup for each family. 

Because of this, mini session pricing is fixed and packages are not customisable in the same way as my full sessions. This allows me to keep mini sessions more accessible while still giving you the same gentle guidance, professional editing and timeless final images you expect from H Jones Photography.

Your questions answered

Book your session with me as soon as possible, as I get very busy! Book for approximately 10 days after your due date. Once your baby arrives, email me and we can confirm the exact date, ideally when baby is 5-10 days new. I’ll ask you to complete a booking and consent form to give me permission to take photos of your family. The session fee is due on booking to secure the time in my diary. The session fee doesn’t include any photos, which can be purchased at your viewing session, around 1 week after your photoshoot.
Don’t worry! Babies rarely arrive on their due date. My diary is flexible as I spend a lot of time editing images to create beautiful galleries for you, so I can always move things around. Just contact me when your baby arrives and we will book in your newborn photoshoot for when your baby is between 5-10 days new.
Yes! Absolutely. In fact I will ensure you appear in the photos. Everyone tells me they hate having their photo taken, but I will help you with how to stand and how to look relaxed, even if you don’t feel your best. I even have some beautiful long gowns to create some stylish shots of mum and baby and create some hugely popular photos of dads holding their babies. There is no extra charge for these photos. Just think how you and your baby will love to look back on these special photos.
Newborn photoshoots are very much baby led, so there is plenty of time for feeding, changing and cuddling. Allow 2-3 hours for your newborn baby photoshoot but if we need a little longer to capture those perfect shots, that is not a problem.
No! Absolutely not! Us newborn photographers say newborn photo shoots are best done when baby is around 7-10 days old, but that is not set in stone by any means. When babies are still brand new, they spend most of their time curled up, sleeping. This makes it easier for trained newborn photographers to pose babies safely in those cute classic photos you see. However, I have held a huge number of photoshoots with older babies. These are a different kind of session, as baby could be awake more, but this means we can capture some amazing wide eyed shots! I can still wrap older babies and make them look tiny too!
