The Location

My sunflower photoshoots in Hampshire take place at the wonderful Silkstead Sunflower Farm near Winchester, within easy reach of Andover, Salisbury, Romsey, Basingstoke and the surrounding areas.

The fields provide an incredible setting with thousands of sunflowers creating a sea of golden colour. Evening sessions are carefully timed to make the most of the soft summer light, helping create the warm and timeless style that H Jones Photography is known for.

What To Expect

Sunflower sessions are relaxed, fun and designed to be enjoyable for the whole family.

Sessions last approximately 30 minutes and are perfect for young children with short attention spans.

We'll wander through the field, stopping at a variety of locations and letting children explore naturally along the way. There is no pressure for children to sit perfectly still or smile on demand.

The aim is simple - beautiful photographs and happy memories.

What should we wear?

Soft neutral colours photograph beautifully amongst the rich yellow tones of the flowers.

I generally recommend:

- Creams and whites
- Soft beige and oatmeal tones
- Light blues and denim
- Sage green
- Floaty dresses and natural textures.

Avoid bright logos, neon colours and busy patterns wherever possible.

Sunflower Maternity Photoshoots in Hampshire

There's something truly special about capturing your pregnancy surrounded by a sea of golden sunflowers. The warm evening light, peaceful countryside setting and vibrant blooms create a beautiful backdrop for celebrating this exciting chapter before your baby arrives.

These 30-minute sunflower maternity photoshoots in Hampshire are relaxed and enjoyable, giving you plenty of time to create a beautiful collection of natural photographs without feeling rushed. Whether you come on your own, with your partner or bring older children along too, I'll gently guide you while capturing the genuine moments in between.

If you're between 32 and 36 weeks pregnant, this is usually the ideal time for your maternity photoshoot, when your bump is beautifully defined but you're still comfortable enough to wander through the sunflower fields.
Included with your newborn booking

If you're planning to book a newborn photoshoot, your 30-minute sunflower maternity session can be used as your complimentary Mini Maternity Shoot, included with every newborn session booked, subject to the sunflower sessions taking place during your pregnancy.

It's a lovely opportunity to enjoy a seasonal outdoor maternity photoshoot before welcoming your little one, then return to my studio for your relaxed newborn session once your baby has arrived.

If the sunflower season doesn't coincide with your pregnancy, your complimentary Mini Maternity Shoot can instead take place in my studio.

Your questions answered

Sunflower season changes slightly every year depending on the weather. We currently expect sessions to take place on 8-9 August 2026, although the exact dates will be confirmed once the flowers bloom.

Around 30 minutes, making them perfect for young children.

Yes. Sunflowers make a beautiful backdrop for maternity portraits and these sessions are very popular with expectant parents.

Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome and can be photographed with you, or on their own.

I recommend wearing outfits that complement the natural surroundings, such as pastel colours or light tones. Avoid large logos or patterns that might distract from the sunflower field's beauty. On booking a session, I will send more detailed styling suggestions for you.

In the event of inclement weather, I will work with you to reschedule the session to the next available date. I want to ensure the best possible experience and lighting conditions for your photos.

Absolutely! I encourage your input and welcome any ideas or special requests you may have. We want to make your photoshoot personalised and unique to your family's style and preferences. I have a few props that you are welcome to use, including little baskets and parasols which are ideal for young children.

The farm has everything you need for a comfortable visit, including:
- Free field parking
- Portable toilets
- Picnic area with limited seating
- A sunflower maze and trail to explore
- Refreshments available to purchase
before or after your photoshoot (until around 5pm)
It's a lovely place to spend a few hours with family and friends as well as enjoying your photography session.

Yes, although it's worth remembering that the sunflowers are grown in a working field. The ground can be uneven and may be muddy or sticky in places, particularly after wet weather. Larger all-terrain wheels are recommended if you're bringing a pushchair or wheelchair.

Yes. There is plenty of free field parking available at Silkstead Sunflower Farm. Please note that, as this is a farm, the parking area isn't suitable for vehicles with very low ground clearance.

Absolutely. Many families choose to make an afternoon or evening of their visit. You're welcome to bring a picnic blanket or camping chairs and enjoy the beautiful surroundings before or after your photoshoot.

Yes, you're very welcome to pick your own sunflowers to take home.
If you have your own secateurs, please bring them with you. The farm also has a limited number available to borrow in return for a donation to Sophie's Legacy, their chosen charity for 2026. Borrowing secateurs is very popular, so there may be a short wait during busy periods.

Around one week after your session, I'll email you a link to your own private online viewing gallery, where you can relax at home and choose your favourite photographs.
You'll be able to purchase digital image collections, along with a range of professionally crafted products including fine art prints, framed prints, canvases, mini albums and other beautiful keepsakes. Every image is individually hand-edited to my signature style before it's added to your gallery.
