Every August, for a few short weeks, Hampshire's sunflower fields burst into life.
Towering golden blooms, warm summer evenings and children racing between the flowers create the perfect backdrop for natural family photographs. It's one of my favourite times of year to pick up the camera.
My Sunflower Mini Sessions for August 2026 are now open for the waiting list, and if previous years are anything to go by, the most popular slots are likely to be snapped up quickly.
There is something wonderfully nostalgic about a sunflower field.
Children can explore, families can relax, and the flowers provide a beautiful natural setting without needing any elaborate props or styling. The result is a collection of photographs that feel joyful, relaxed and full of summer memories.
Whether you're looking for:
a sunflower field creates a unique backdrop that only appears for a few weeks each year.
Unlike a studio session, sunflower photoshoots are wonderfully unpredictable.
Children can run, play and explore. We can capture genuine smiles, cuddles and laughter rather than asking everyone to sit perfectly still.
Many parents tell me afterwards that their children simply thought they were on an adventure through the flowers.
The result is a gallery filled with natural expressions and real family connection.
The exact dates will depend on the growing season and when the flowers are at their best.
As soon as the sunflower farm confirms the flowering period, waiting list members will receive priority access to book before sessions are released more widely.
Joining the waiting list is completely free and gives you the best chance of securing your preferred date and time.
Soft, neutral colours work beautifully against the vibrant yellow flowers.
Creams, whites, soft blues, sage greens and earthy tones tend to photograph particularly well and help keep the focus on your family rather than busy patterns or logos.
Closer to the sessions, I'll send out a full preparation guide with wardrobe suggestions to help you get the most from your shoot.
